Gymkhana driver, stunt driver, rally racer, motosports personality are just several of many titles that befit legendary Ken Block. Ken, 55, was killed in a snowmobile accident on 2 January 2023 when the vehicle upended and landed on him while climbing a hill.

One may also think that his exploits are confined to the four-wheeled world, but it turned out that the MotoGP paddock was equally devastated by the news.

Ducati Corse Sporting Director, Paolo Ciabatti posted that he could not believe Ken is gone.

Ex-MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner Tweeted, “A true legend of motorsport has left us far too soon. Ken Block was not only a great driver and ambassador for motorsport, he was a genuinely great human. You will be sorely missed mate! All our love to your family. RIP”

Miguel Oliveira weighed in with his thoughts, too, in Portugese which translated to, “Today we lost a visionary, a husband, a father but above all an inspiration. The legacy he left through his DC shoes brand Gymkhana project was more than enough to mark generations and those who love motors. Rest in Peace.”

It is indeed sad to lose a legend who had thrilled so many with his Hoonigan gymkhana precision stunt driving videos.

Ken did indeed race dirt bikes when he was younger but stopped when he got into rally racing, citing fears of getting injured and not being able to compete. Apart from that, he Tweeted in 2021 to share his excitement on getting back on his dirt bike after 15 years.

He is survived by his wife and three children. Rest in peace, Ken Block.
